This was the first Korean movie I watched

This was the first Korean movie I watched years ago. Little did I realize that it would be the introduction to the wonderful world of Korean cinema. I've pretty much stopped watching Hollywood in recent years because IMHO Korean cinema, especially mini-series, are just better. This stars the young Son Ye Jin, who has since become recognized as one of Korea's top half dozen actresses (and they have a lot of really good ones!) The style and production values of Korean cinema have evolved quite a bit since this was made, but it has worn well. Like all good cinema art, it's worth watching more than once. It's on my every 5 year list.

This movie tries way too hard to be

This movie tries way too hard to be cute before it tries way too hard to be a tearjerker. The result is a film that is sappy and cliched and filled with soap opera moments. Given the film's high RT rating, however, there are many people out there who are a lot more sentimental than I am. If that sounds like you perhaps you should give this movie a shot.
