Plot summary

When a young woman's skeletal remains turn up on a Massachusetts beach, Barnstable cop Peter Moralas teams with Boston police and uses forensics, with the help of a Harvard professor, to determine the woman's identity, how she died, and who killed her.

Surprisingly enjoyable, with a fine script and some

Surprisingly enjoyable, with a fine script and some fun twists, especially involving Elsa Lanchester’s character. It was also interesting to see how forensic work could be used to solve a case like this. The great print helped too.

Crime procedural fans will like this. Performances are excellent, especially Ricardo Montalban doing excellent work as a no-nonsense investigator, Jan Sterling the victim and Elsa Lanchester an unscrupulous landlady. Most of all, again, the cinematography of John Alton is reason enough to watch.

Solid, meticulous direction by John Sturges makes this noir/police procedural a must watch. Ricardo Montablan is convincing as a meticulous, but over-zealous murder investigator.
