At least there's always a chance that familial

At least there's always a chance that familial love will pull us back to the best possible place, even in a seemingly impossible situation like the one inflicted on all of the Fitzgeralds. Anna has every right to feel like a walking medicine cabinet as opposed to an individual person, and yet we are forced to walk a mile the shoes of Cameron Diaz's Sara and ask ourselves: if so blinded by the intensity of love for our long-suffering, innocent child, would we not push through the same decisions she does here? Having not read the novel, I still feel better about the revised ending chosen by the screenwriters. There's a lack of religious insight during the discussion of possible worlds beyond this one - just noteworthy, not a criticism - but whilst God's existence is unknowable, his omnibenevolence is a lie so long as cancerous cells continue to spread in children. Not as profound as it aspires to be, yet definitely elevated by Abigail Breslin's brilliance. RIP Evan Ellingson.
