Plot summary
The first part of Bill Douglas' influential trilogy harks back to his impoverished upbringing in early-'40s Scotland. Cinema was his only escape - he paid for it with the money he made from returning empty jam jars - and this escape is reflected most closely at this time of his life as an eight-year-old living on the breadline with his half-brother and sick grandmother in a poor mining village.

@Redrumnummerone - do you have any reading comprehension at all? It's not about IMDB link. SantiSanto wrote that director´s name and cast are useful to look for other movies from them. If there's no director´s name and no cast then their movies won't be displayed in the search!!! Got that now, you f...ing c..t?
"There is an IMDB link above" - lazy and low IQ people will never figure that out.
There is an IMDB link above that will give lots of details about the movie. Try it, it is a usual thing with each posting.
Please director´s name and cast are important! usefull too look for movies and filmographies.
