Plot summary

Music From Another Room is a romantic comedy that follows the exploits of Danny, a young man who grew up believing he was destined to marry the girl he helped deliver as a five year old boy when his neighbor went into emergency labor. Twenty-five years later, Danny returns to his hometown and finds the irresistible Anna Swann but she finds it easy to resist him since she is already engaged to dreamboat Eric, a very practical match. In pursuit of Anna, Danny finds himself entangled with each of the eccentric Swanns including blind, sheltered Nina, cynical sister Karen, big brother Bill and dramatic mother Grace as he fights to prove that fate should never be messed with and passion should never be practical.

Love the myriad of sub-stories that support the central plot. Clean and romantic, although I didn’t really see the growing romance between Jude Law and Gretchen Mol. Somehow not a whole lot of chemistry there although both actors were great. My fave was the blind sister and dish-washer boyfriend story - perfect foil for the main event. The cages we build for ourselves. I watched it by myself - hard sell to my husband.

Who knew this movie is twenty five years old? I didn’t. Simple story. Even at the end a wild run to catch him, to say she loves him. She is gorgeous. He is simpler as a character. See it.

This movie could have been great, but it was oh so bad. The storyline is completely unique-I'd never seen anything like it. And in the beginning the movie was really interesting. Unfortunately the 'revelation" happened way too early. I would have enjoyed it more if they had waited till the end to find out that Danny was the one who delivered Anna. Instead it happens at the beginning and he spends the rest of the time trying to steal her away from her boyfriend. So really the fact that he literally met her at birth isn't that relevant. Another thing is the age differences. In the beginning, of course, Danny is played by a child of around 5 years old. But then when he's an adult, he doesn't look 20 years older. And as much as I love Jeremy Piven, he was in the initial birth scenes but again he appears to not have aged at all even though 25 years have supposedly passed. There is the scene with Anna's blind sister who meets a guy at a dance club and later on he buys her a bicycle. Wait, what? Really? I didn't have much hope for this movie anyway, but it fell far below my expectations.
