Plot summary

Well it's not political so I'll give it another point. But it SHOULD have been fun. They missed the boat there. They couldn't decide if they wanted it to be campy, satire, or serious and it failed on all fronts.

When I sat down to watch the 2025 slasher horror movie "Mouseboat Massacre", I have to say that I had zero expectations to the movie, and I figured I would be in for another ridiculous horror movie that cashes in on old cartoon nostalgia. But since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.Writer Harry Boxley didn't exactly conjure up a particularly thrilling or entertaining script for the movie. It was a rather bland and generic horror experience. The script had way too much focus on sexual contents, which just made the whole movie far more cringeworthy than I ought to be.I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And that was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were adequate, though don't get your hopes up for anything grand.At least there was a bit of brutality and blood in the movie to help keep the otherwise bland storyline somewhat afloat. However, it wasn't exactly enough to make up for the lack of a properly entertaining storyline.Should you enjoy horror movies, then "Mouseboat Massacre" is definitely not a movie that I would suggest you rush out to get to watch. I will say that "Mouseboat Massacre" is as terrible as you would assume from the title and synopsis alone.My rating of director Andrea M. Catinella's 2025 movie "Mouseboat Massacre" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

Why do these filmmakers keep making these types of movies?

It's starting to get old. There's barely any story in this movie, with it either being a woman battling drug addiction or the killer killing anybody he encounters. The main plot with Mimi battling drug addiction doesn't go anywhere interesting with it being generic with nobody believing her for obvious reasons, and one tiny development feels unnecessary. As for the killer, it's a generic one with a silent killer killing her family members. One detail they added is how he connect to a tape that she plays, but it goes nowhere and is forgotten until near the end. Even the pacing is off with the killer showing up and starting to kill with no build-up towards it. The movie ends in an anticlimactic way. I have nothing to say about the characters because all of them sucks. While two of them only have one development, it doesn't help the fact that they are bland characters. And the acting is poor.Mouseboat Massacre is another cash-in movie that doesn't do anything new to itself and isn't that fun.
