Plot summary

A comedy about a screenwriter (Wuhl) whose old movie script is read by a producer (Landau) and the search for financial backers begins. But it seems that each money source (Aiello, DeNiro, Wallach) has his own mistress that he wants put into the film. Gradually, the screenwriter is forced to make changes to his script to accommodate these backers until he finally sees no semblance of his original ideas in the writing.

الفلم حلو. الفلم درامي بطابع كوميدي ساخر يتكلم عن كواليس صناعة السينما بطريقة خفيفة وذكية. الفكرة حلوة وتلامس واقع المنتجين والتمويل والمساومات، والسرد يمشي بسلاسة بدون تعقيد. الحوارات ذكية ببعض اللحظات وتعكس طبيعة الوسط الفني، لكن أحيانًا تميل للتكرار. التمثيل جيد عمومًا، وأداء البطل جيد ، بينما الشخصيات الثانوية تضيف طابع مرح وتخدم الجو العام. الإخراج هادئ ومسيطر على الإيقاع، ما فيه مبالغة، والتصوير بسيط يخدم القصة و اجوء الفلم. باختصار: فيلم خفيف بفكرته، ممتع بسردة و يعطينا لمحة عما يحصل خلف الكامرة .

How much of the actress is the actress or the mistress? Struggling filmmaker Marvin Landisman (Robert Wuhl) gets a surprise phone call from Jack Roth (Martin Landau), an ex-Hollywood executive who wants to turn one of Marvin's screenplays into a movie Marvin thinks his life's ambition is about to become a reality, until he meets the film's financial backers (Robert De Niro, Danny Aiello, Eli Wallach) Each investor has a young girlfriend whom they force Marvin to offer a role to, and then they also re-write the script until it's unrecognizable Not that much happens here to be honest Felt nothing was accomplished by the end The plot goes badly off the rails and it can't decide if it's supposed to be a comedy about Hollywood small-timers trying to get an indie pic off the ground, or a somber drama in which greed and lust overwhelm art A dull misfire that should've been comic gold
