Plot summary

Franklin Shepard is a talented Broadway composer who abandons his theater career and all his friends in New York in order to produce films in Los Angeles. The story begins at the height of his Hollywood fame and moves backwards in time, showing snapshots of the most important moments in Frank’s life that shaped the man he is today. A live recording of the 2024 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical, filmed at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.

You have to be in to musicals I guess. I lost interest quickly and realized it wasnt worth the 2.5hrs of my life

I've seen this three times now. My husband

I've seen this three times now. My husband saw the show on Broadway and raved about it. I'd been familiar with the show and its initial run (a flop) and various attempts to revive it (most of them flops.) It could be that this was simply the moment for the show to work, or maybe the alchemy among the three main performers happened upon the perfect balance. It's a shame Stephen Sondheim and George Furth didn't live to see the outcome of this production - both the live show and the film. Daniel Radcliffe more than holds his own with Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez - he shines. In 'Franklin Shepard, Inc.' he SCORCHES. I'm so glad DR has broken the Harry Potter mold. With roles like this, and with Swiss Army Man and A Young Doctor's Notebook he has shown that he has range and chops to spare. So yes, this IS a musical. But it's a very effecting and strangely realistic musical (except for the whole 'people burst into song all the time' part.) And it's brilliantly executed.
