Plot summary

Major Grom: Plague Doctor is a Russian comic-book

Major Grom: Plague Doctor is a Russian comic-book action film that is interesting partly because we do not often get this kind of commercial Russian blockbuster in the West. Set in Saint Petersburg, it follows an unconventional police officer facing a masked vigilante who punishes the rich and powerful in the name of justice. The comparison with V for Vendetta is obvious: mask, corruption, public violence and a city turned into a moral battleground. The film looks expensive, with strong visual effects, energetic action scenes and a very attractive use of Saint Petersburg. It is entertaining and perfectly watchable, but also very familiar, borrowing from superhero films, rebellious cop movies and vigilante stories. Not a masterpiece, but a solid and curious action film.

Major Grom contra o Dr. Peste é um filme cujo herói não gosta de trabalhar em equipe. Um dos seus colegas de trabalho tenta apoiá-lo na missão de derrotar o Dr. Peste. Grom se recusa a chamá-lo de parceiro. Uma criadora de conteúdo têm seu notebook e seu celular destruídos por Grom. No decorrer da história ele pede desculpas, e compra um celular novo para ela. Quando ninguém mais acreditava no Major Grom esses dois personagens decidem ajudá-lo, e sem eles o Major Grom não conseguiria derrotar o Dr. Peste. O policial desconfiado ganha dois amigos. Vale a pena assistir

A nice movie, almost approaching the level of

A nice movie, almost approaching the level of Marvel. The twist in the movie is really good and is reminiscent in its presentation style of what Marvel did with Venom in the Spider-Man movie. But overall, this is a movie that is at a very reasonable level compared to the movies in its category, it is not perfect but it is satisfying and very exciting.
