Plot summary

The film follows the story of a famous fictional stand-up comedian Manny Lewis, who connects with millions of fans but finds it hard to connect to one person. Manny struggles to overcome his sense of alienation and shyness, and a difficult relationship with his father, in a romantic and feel-good quest for the love of the quirky Maria.

I liked this film, Carl is funny whilst being somewhat serious. Critics have been to up their own asses looking down on this film and they're wrong about it.

Carl Barron is a good actor, but the

Carl Barron is a good actor, but the film is a little over the top and can't be salvaged by the romantic love story subplot. The first half of this film is incredible and I couldn't understand the bad reviews, but in the later half this film sank incredibly fast. The performances are not the issue, it's the story beats and forced narrative. Barron should star in more films, he is no slouch at the dramatic parts of the film. This could have a been a great film had the filmmakers improved parts of the overall story. 07/04/2019
