only made because to win an academy award the movie as to be about an "oppressed group" to qualify. Turns out Bernstein was a closeted gay. Great direction, beautiful cinematography, good performance. just didn't like the movie. Nothing redeeming or likeable.

@Meditaba... Every x265 that I have ever downloaded had been 10 bit but they have all been smaller that the x264. It's only here that things are different and lately screwed up.

trzn: No, the x265 version is still cropped. I recommend everyone to download the release "Maestro.2023.1080p.WEBRip.x265-KONTRAST" 2.46 GB that has the movie in the same quality but preserving the right aspect ratio.

Did the x265 version fix the crop, anyone?

Because x265 files on YTS are 10bit. I don't like them either but that's the case. They could include both 10bit and 8bit separately. It can reduce the file size so much.

@Doorpro this site's 1080p were always on the blocky side of encoding. I'm guessing the x265s are significantly better quality, given the increased size. but I haven't done a side by side to confirm this.

I need to ask why the 1080 x265 is a larger file than the standard 1080. Everywhere else it is a smaller more compact file.

psweany: Then the best way is to present the video 1.85:1 the entire time, as to not unnecessarily crop the scenes shot in that aspect ratio just because majority of the scenes are in 1.33:1. It's about preserving how the film was meant to be viewed.

To those complaining about the aspect ratios. The film was purposely shot in 1.33:1 as an aesthetic/storytelling choice. Only the beginning and end are in standard Academy 1.85:1 aspect. (It would be highly bizarre for any movie ripper to selectively change the aspect ratio unecessarily, or to apply selective cropping, or any cropping at all with today's tools.)

Netflix or no, that's not the point. If you were a true collector/preservationist/archivist you would understand

The only reason I check this comment section is problems like this aspect ratio thing that people are mentioning. ThAnX everyone. Not everyone has the luxury of wasting their internet on problematic files. Please someone tell us when it's fixed. ThAnX in advance.

I hope the 1080p.x265 release fix these aspect ratio issues and includes the subtitles of all languages...

Aspect ratio should be 1.33 : 1; 1.85 : 1; 1.85 : 1(some scenes). Everybody cried "cropped" with Oppenheimer. Now again?
