It is not unusual for critics to diss

It is not unusual for critics to diss Madonna's work like their life depends on it, and it's certainly not unusual for them not to have the artistic clarity necessary to comprehend her work in all levels presented. Madame X had some very heavy artistic elements and themes, and while the album itself isn't one of my personal favourites, the visuals take it much higher than the audio standing alone. But then again, that's a well-known quality of Madonna's: elevating the experience of her music through stunning visuals.
