Plot summary

When the sudden appearance of lights from the sky causes his girlfriend to disappear, Alex and his friends embark on a quest to find her. Their journey soon leads them to a deep underground military base where they encounter government agents and an alien menace that threatens their lives.

After reading the polarized views of this film, but going with the audience reviews over the so-called “critics,” my wife and I took a chance and watched it. Wow! This is one of those rare films where the images and dialogue haunt you long after you finish watching. Swimming against the tide of big-budget by-the-numbers sci-fi movies out there where the ending is usually obvious from the start, Lumina instead provides plenty of surprising twists that lead to an even more unpredictable (and shockingly unforgettable) ending. Every aspect of this film is worth mentioning: writing, acting, directing, editing, special effects, soundtrack, and more. All that said, I agree with other reviewers who say this film is not for everyone. If you want non-stop action, this film is not for you. There is some action, especially towards the end, but this movie is mostly a cerebral slow-burn whose provocative questions will infect your mind like a brain-eating worm. I even wonder if “Where is Tatiana?” might become the next “Who is Keyzer Soze?”

I love the old campy SciFi movies that

I love the old campy SciFi movies that has a sense of humor, and this film strikes me would fit in that genre. The film has a point of view and subject matter that I am unfamiliar with, but because of that I found it compelling and informative. It certainly makes me think about the subject matter in new light. For an indie film, this horror movie does feature some big sets which looks expensive. I think when you watch a film like this one has to have a sense of humor and doesn't take everything too seriously. I did have a good time and enjoyed the movie. For those campy SciFi fans this horror movie can be an interesting Sunday matinee watch.
