Plot summary

After discovering a box of old love letters sent to her mother by a mysterious stranger, Anna, a young radio deejay, begins a torrid affair with a married man. Burning attraction brings them together, but the reality does not come close to the passion expressed in the letters.

I got sucked in by the Richard Brody

I got sucked in by the Richard Brody recommendation in the New Yorker due to the film being available on the Criterion Channel. YUCK! This movie is awful. We could only watch half of it. It takes place in a terrible time for pretty much everything (1983) and it looks like it was shot by a high school film club. The characters are not compelling and some of the acting is just dreadful. It is really pretty much unwatchable by today's standards and we watch a LOT of older movies. What were you thinking Richard Brody?!?
