Love in the Time of Cholera comes across

Love in the Time of Cholera comes across as a visually polished but emotionally distant adaptation that struggles to fully justify its long runtime. While the film clearly aims for sweeping romance and literary depth, it often feels more like it’s telling you about passion rather than actually making you feel it. The pacing is slow and uneven, with long stretches that don’t add much momentum or emotional payoff. The story itself has strong romantic themes at its core, but the execution doesn’t always land, making it hard to stay fully invested throughout. Even with a strong cast and impressive production design, the overall experience feels surprisingly flat. There are moments where the atmosphere and performances briefly shine, but they’re too scattered to carry the whole film. It ends up feeling more like a missed opportunity than a truly compelling romantic drama. Overall, it’s not without merit, but it doesn’t come together in a satisfying way. A D Tier experience and a 4/10.

One of the greatest books ever written. Almost impossible to do it justice on the big screen. With such a beautiful setting it is a feast for the eyes.
