Plot summary

A very minimalistic film (it doesn't even have

A very minimalistic film (it doesn't even have a soundtrack!) about lonliness and anhedony. Throughout the movie there is a moody atmosphere (due to the impact of WWII). Despite the slowness of the film, I experienced a great deal of emotions and I empathised with the characters.

The thing about Akerman's films is that they

The thing about Akerman's films is that they are very hard to describe without making it sound bad. I mean, really, The Meetings of Anna is essentially two hours of people complaining about their problems. But they are more than that. They are rich, beautiful, and moving. This doesn't hold a candle to Jeanne Dielman but this is good stuff that I'm doing a lot of observing of.
