Plot summary

One of Rohmer's best and the only film

One of Rohmer's best and the only film made on Paris 80's ‘ modern young people' Still very actual and well written , exposing young adults confusion between frivolity and security . Major influence of Pascal Ogier who put her youth and energy in this project before falling asleep forever shortly after the movie's triumph at Venice Mostra. Breakthrough role for Fabrice Luchini

I'm a little apprehensive about the moral of

I'm a little apprehensive about the moral of the story, if there is one, nevertheless it's a really captivating character piece. The internal conflicts and in general the emotional world of the heroine is conveyed skillfully via the dialogues, actions and character interactions, and even seemingly simple, innocuous moments (e.g. people dancing at the first party) subtly show a lot just by the way they're put together and shot. The finale is touching without being melodramatic - or predictable.
