Well, I was born and raised Catholic...and I'm still Catholic...and this is the kind of movie I avoid.
I really don't want to sit down and be preached at, I don't want to watch an overt lecture. And, trust me, that goes just as much for the left as it does the right.
But, when the heck, it was free so...I finally came around to watching it and, honestly, YES, it totally does feel like an overt political and religious lecture. And, unfortunately, for some reason, when the conservatives do it the production value is absolute crap and it looks pretty horrible.
And lest when the liberals do their propaganda (I'm looking at you Star Wars, Captain Marvel, Disney, Sabrina) they actually put money into it and make it look good. Even though the stories are just as bad.
But, I guess the good news is that when conservatives do their propaganda they don't even try to conceal it.
What we have here is a lecture with poor production values and, yeah, the acting was pretty OK.
At least I can say that most of the acting was decent.

It's these kind of movies that continue to give Christian film-making a bad name, meaning sub-par acting, poor special-effects and just an overall "B" film feeling to the whole project.The reason, is course, is money. When you don't have a big budget and support from the Hollywood community on all phases of the film, how are you going to make a classy movie? You have to be some multi-millionaire with clout like Mel Gibson or Robert Duvall, otherwise you are going to wind up with something like this. Mainstream Hollywood hasn't made a pro- Christian film is 40 years and probably won't for another 40. Just check out the early scene with the planes flying overhead. I thought I was a watching a 1950s low-budget sci-fi show.Yes, kudos for someone at least trying to make an earnest effort to re-create the suspense based on the best-selling "Left Behind" books, but this is not the answer. Big bucks and top special-effects people are needed for high production values and to attract top actors. This is what you get when you don't have that kind of budget. Hollywood is too atheistically-biased to produce Biblical movies anymore. Goodness, what would their peers think?

I grew up Baptist and I know the story this movie is trying to tell, although I no longer believe the story. I'll give the movie kudos for being as good as the average Lifetime Movie of the Week. Mildly interesting, mediocre acting, a bit slow, the script is predictable, the music is sappy, and it is a bit melodramatic. And all the people left behind have got to be the squeakiest clean non-Christians, ever. Not a single curse word from any of them. But I laughed out loud when the actor playing the man who runs the United Nations pronounced "nuclear" as "nu-cu-ler," just like Bush. Is there some Christian code of honor that mandates that since Bush claims he, too, is called by God, that all Christians must cover up his ignorance by mispronouncing that word the same way he does? LOL! I really had a difficult time taking the movie seriously at all after that. After the "nu-cu-ler" incident, the movie began to feel like packaged, manipulative propaganda. I was looking for something bold. Actually, I was looking for something that might make me think, but I didn't find it here. If you're looking for mindless entertainment, stop here - it's good for killing a rainy afternoon. But if you're looking for intelligence, look elsewhere.
