Plot summary

This a a great French crime film that has lots to love, but it was hard to follow at times mainly one scene that there talking about a bunch of names but I couldn’t put the face to the name and was kinda lost even though I think I got the gist of it.

It is a really cool crime film. It

It is a really cool crime film. It is a bit confusing and difficult to follow along the way, but the revelation is great and it makes sense of everything. It is just hard to engage and feel invested in the story up to that point. I don't want to feel confused when I'm watching a movie--just waiting for everything to be explained. It seems gimmicky to me. I want to be engaged in every moment. And I'm not sure I ever really care about any of these characters. But it is worth the watch.

I read that this movie influenced subsequent masters

I read that this movie influenced subsequent masters of the crime genre such as Scorsese and Tarantino. I can see that, many elements of the modern day gangster film are here. However, I didn't find this movie to be all that good. Maybe I've been spoiled by all of director Melville's successors.
