Plot summary

Frederic leads a bourgeois life; he is a partner in a small Paris office and is happily married to Helene, a teacher expecting her second child. In the afternoons, Frederic daydreams about other women, but has no intention of taking any action. One day, Chloe, who had been a mistress of an old friend, begins dropping by his office. They meet as friends, irregularly in the afternoons, till eventually Chloe decides to seduce Frederic, causing him a moral dilemma.

Very French film about mistresses and love. I don't feel compelled to see it again besides to view it as a period piece with some good fashion from the French 70s.

An interesting viewing, but in my opinion not

An interesting viewing, but in my opinion not really sensational. Frederic spends the duration of the movie dealing with temptation, but ultimately staying faithful to his wife. When he decides at very last moment not to jump in bed with the other girl who pursues him, he returns home early and then his wife breaks down, indicating that when she was seen in town with another man probably he was not showing her his stamp collection and she now feels guilty. The film ends there and we never learn if Frederic put two and two together.
