Plot summary

In this whimsical fable, Resnais deftly interweaves three story lines: the creation of an early-20th-century utopia; romantic high jinks at a school conference; and a fantasy sparked by F/X pioneer Georges Méliès.

I had never heard of that work before

I had never heard of that work before and now I understand why. This is an incoherent heap of crap that Mr Resnais imagined that it represented high art. I watched the first 30 minutes and my recommendation is to skip it completely. The period of the action moves from 1914 to 1982 without any good reason. There are many elements that supposedly carry deep symbolism like the painting being carried in a heavy crate.

A tad exaggerated in the hands of Resais

A tad exaggerated in the hands of Resais but I understand what he is trying to give credit to. Lovely to watch if slightly over done.
