NYT 1000 films. Sadly this one was a flop. It was more of an Italian soap opera than anything. I didn’t care what happened or identify with the poor story telling that left me wanting it to be over. Saw on box.

Well made but poorly executed. Starts promising and ends up an arduously dark bore. The excesses and internecine rivalries within a noble family in Germany come macabrely and incestuously to the boil. It just drags through the second half. Watched on DVD.
