Plot summary

In the wake of her mother's tragic death, French teenager Junie transfers to a different high school. Though Junie lives mostly inside her own head, her beauty and stoicism win her the attention of the entire male student population. Junie begins dating the gentle Otto Cleves, but finds herself intensely drawn to her youthful Italian language teacher, Nemours. When Nemours begins to reciprocate, serious complications ensue.

This movie has a lot of flares but

This movie has a lot of flares but no substance, it tries to give us different characters love stories without going in-depth into any story in particular. There is a shocking moment in the film, and the other characters take this just as a normal thing without giving an extra-second of attention.

I highly disliked this movie. While it had

I highly disliked this movie. While it had some redeeming qualities, such as the cinematography and some nice spoken bits, it was overall very disappointing for me. The story arc was too slow, for one. None of the characters were particularly likeable in my opinion, either. Nemours was a creepy, perverted teacher who used women like tissues, and he decided his new 'love' was Junie. He pursues her and basically ruins her life in the process, instead of acting like the responsible elder he is. Some people may say that it was 'true, passionate love' calling, but I disagree. You don't love someone deeply from doing nothing but staring at them from afar. Basically, he liked a student's physicality and made her life suckish because of his desire. He reeked of male entitlement, and he irked me. Meanwhile, Junie was far from lovely too...leading Otto on, being as hypocritical as everybody else. All the characters irked me, and the story irked me. Not exciting, not intelligent. Sorry, but I really did not enjoy it.
