Plot summary

Life is not easy for 11-year-old Allan living in South Jutland during the early 1970s. His mentally unstable father frequently threatens suicide and his mother has long since given up. It's up to Allan to keep the family together. When a rival family threatens his father's livelihood, Allan starts committing atrocious acts.

Another depressing(?) danish film - seems like we're

Another depressing(?) danish film - seems like we're the peadophilia factory, and we just can't stop doing them. If you are a foreigner, this film is well acted, if you live in Denmark, it's laughable - enjoy! I hated it.

I don't know if I'm to believe the whole story could be true, certainly some moments that feel awkward that they would play out the way they did. Other than that, wonderful acting and the tinge of humor in an otherwise black, black story is spot on.

We follow Allan, a Danish eleven year old

We follow Allan, a Danish eleven year old that tries to keep his dysfunctional family together as loads of bad stuff happen. One of the grimmest dark comedies out there, where there are little uplifting moments accept from some phrases from Allan. The English title is pretty misleading but that does not take away that this is a film that should have a wide audience all over the world. Well acted, greatly told. Not the best film to shake of your hangover to, so I guess my grade isn't that fair. A strong film that is a bit boring, still disturbing and impressive in it's own way. 6.5 out of 10 red pills.
