Ku! A gritty, subtle, hilarious and weird social commentary sci fi comedy about two guys who accidentally are transported to an alien desert planet. They befriend some local musicians and seek a way back to earth while getting to know the local culture and places. Became a classic quickly. It contagiously adds it's invented words to your vocabulary. Which it did throughout the Soviet Union after release. Slower and longer than modern films. Better if you understand Russian of course. There is an anime remake also, which came out in 2013, which is shorter. As many slower films are, it gets better once you are deep in to the first half.

Definitely different. In the version I watched, (via Amazon Prime), the subtitles were terrible, coming in well after the audio, on the screen too fast, and sometimes in the same mix as another characters. Even with all that, this movie was so worth it. A story of class and longing just to be home. Fantastic acting, visuals, story. Ku!

Kin-Dza-Dza is kinda like a watching a film

Kin-Dza-Dza is kinda like a watching a film set in a Russian Road Warrior or Tank Girl universe with characters on an absurd quest, as if directed by Terry Gilliam. I really enjoyed it. I'm surprised this film doesn't appear more of science-fiction best of film lists. Maybe it’s because it a film from the end of the Soviet Union and isn’t very well known. I’m thankful for Deaf Crocodile for releasing this excellent blu-ray.
