I knew nothing of Joan of Arc before

I knew nothing of Joan of Arc before watching this, so it was nice to see. Still, it felt like we were just being taken from one "known" part of her legend to the next "known" part with little context. So it's worth watching for that alone--you become familiar with the legend. I have no idea if it is historically accurate.

This version of Joan of Arc might check

This version of Joan of Arc might check all the historical boxes, but wow — it’s seriously the most boring version you’ll ever see. The actors deliver their lines like they're reading from a textbook, and there’s just no passion behind it. It drags on way too long, and by the end, you’re more focused on the clock than the story. It could have been a powerful, emotional film, but instead it feels more like a history lesson you didn’t ask for. Definitely had potential, just needed way more spark.

dreyer's compassionate potrayal of the trial is legendary and bresson's treatment is a bit too dry. rivette's version of jeanne d'arc is equal parts compassionate and historical. bonnaire was excelent too! bring on part deux
