Plot summary

Sandy, a geologist, finds herself stuck on a field trip to the Pilbara desert with a Japanese man she finds inscrutable, annoying and decidedly arrogant. Hiromitsu's view of her is not much better. Things go from bad to worse when they become stranded in one of the most remote regions on Earth.

I was expecting something like Mr. Baseball, but reversed genders. The real drama happens two-thirds in. Don't dive into unknown waters.

I love this movie. I wonder what inspired these different details to come together. I cry every time I watch it. Love the japanese actor....ne is so beautiful.

I remember being very moved when I first

I remember being very moved when I first saw this movie 22 years ago. I did not expect that it would affect me even more strongly watching it again so many years later. Toni Colette gives a career best performance. The story was so simple and yet so rich. I now consider this to be a personal favorite. So much deeper than the simple story suggests. Bring Kleenex.
