Movie was superb, no doubt. We always want

Movie was superb, no doubt. We always want these kinds of movies to watch but now it's very rare that this much good screenwriting, direction, dialogue quality, and the picturisation of action scene in the last was mind-blowing it was like I am watching some Hollywood action. It is very astonishing that these type of great story lines and good quality acting is defeating bollywood. Must watch movie so many climax in one movie was not impossible afterall

Jagame Thanthiram - 6.5/10. Karthik Subbaraj starts off

Jagame Thanthiram - 6.5/10. Karthik Subbaraj starts off this misguided gangster film on a really slow and weirdly aimed pace, but revives the film once it hones in on its real intentions: immigration. Starring Dhanush, fresh off of his excellent turn in Karnan, Jagame Thanthiram is a wrongly advertised film. What was advertised as a movie about a gangster who moves from #madurai to London for a paid mission, actually ends up being a movie about the Eelam struggles of refugees fleeing from Sri Lanka, and how a new law being brought forth in the UK parliament could hinder their journey to a new life. Once the movie follows that plot line, the movie shines really well. But sadly, its the badly formed first half that makes you scratch your head and wonder where the film will go. Subbaraj is a talented filmmaker, and is one that understands what kind of story he is trying to tell. This could have felt like a generic gang film, but it does offer some new things here and there. When he hones into the immigration plot line, he really shines his mettle as a writer. Some of the dialogue's really shine and show his anger and passion towards this subject. As for the other positives, Dhanush does a good job as the flawed gangster, who ends up redeeming himself later on. The real highlight of the film is the performance from Aishwarya Lekshmi, who shines as the Eelam refugee who is the love interest of Dhanush's character. Her performance in the dramatic portions are commendable, and she has a good future as a leading heroine. Joju George is good in a limited role along with good work from Kalaiyarasan and James Cosmo. Because of the misguidedness of the beginning portions, it leaves a sour taste for the movie, and its sad that the director didn't make this a full on film about immigration. Even if it were a full on movie about gangs, it could have been interesting, but when mixing these two plot lines it just doesn't execute to the full extent that Subbaraj probably was attempting. A decent film which could have been amazing had the second half been the full film.
