A good film noir is one that either

A good film noir is one that either 1) follows the standard of the genre but it's relatively easy to like and follow; or 2) one that is hard to follow but transcends or moves beyond the usual cliches. Sadly this movie meats neither of those two criteria. The plot is too convoluted and the narrative merely repeats the old cliches. That makes it nearly impossible to really engage.

Actually, I downloaded this film for my bus

Actually, I downloaded this film for my bus ride. I thought that I will watch this film also I will sleep while I was watching this movie. Things didn't go as planned, I am also so curious about the book. I will also read the book because I loved the film.
