Plot summary

Pet Shop Boys Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant embark upon a journey across England - but which England? Is it the half-remembered England of their childhoods, or the brutal reality of Mrs Thatcher's late-eighties England? Along the way they come across many familiar (and sinister) faces. The movie also features some of the Pet Shop Boys' most popular records.

The Pet Shop Boys are a guilty pleasure of mine. Sadly this wasn't. It gets a bit better as it goes along but the first half is a creepy Pythonesque misfire. At least the music was good!

The Boys at their surreal and artistic best, the film makes no sense if taken in its entirety but as a collection of short films it is an interesting twist on the pop video art form. A one for the Pet Shop Boys fan rather than the movie art house critic.

You wouldn't find most people who understand the reason for surrealism in this movie, but it's great as an artistic representation of the Pet Shop Boys and some of their token songs. It's bizarre yet fascinating.
