Plot summary

In the 1950s, brothers Jacey and Doug Holt, who come from the poorer side of their sleepy Midwestern town, vie for the affections of the wealthy, lovely Abbott sisters. Lady-killer Jacey alternates between Eleanor and Alice, wanting simply to break the hearts of rich young women. But sensitive Doug has a real romance with Pamela, which Jacey and the Abbott patriarch, Lloyd, both frown upon.

I liked the movie a lot! Joaquin and

I liked the movie a lot! Joaquin and Liv where so cute, I liked the entire plot and a feel-good vibe of the movie setting. Old movies are just the best, men are masculine and women feminine and it's just normal, compared to any of the movies nowadays with all the perversion and weird subliminal narative.

Inventing the Abbotts is a decent drama that has a calm and emotional atmosphere, but it never fully becomes anything truly memorable. The film has an interesting setup and a strong cast, though the story feels smaller than expected. The performances are solid across the board, helping keep the film engaging even during its slower moments. The period setting is also handled well, giving the movie a nostalgic tone that fits the story nicely. At times, the pacing drifts and the emotional impact doesn’t always hit as hard as it could. It’s not a bad film by any means, but it feels like it plays things a little too safely and never reaches the emotional highs it seems to aim for. Overall, it’s a respectable drama with good acting and atmosphere, just nothing too crazy or unforgettable. I rate it a 6/10.

What people miss is that this movie has

What people miss is that this movie has less to do with envy of the wealthy than it does of two nerotic family that needed therapy more than anything else. After awhile it became overbearing and I lost interest. It's either a obsession with sex, money and power, or inrequited love. There's not a stable person in sight. There really wasn't any reaolutuin for the neurosis continues to the end of the film. Hard to care about a movie that's bascialll watching one car crash after another with no resolve in sight. It was OK but I wouldn't recommend it.
