Plot summary

An acclaimed stage performer, Dorothy still struggled with the challenge of her color, in a time that wouldn't let some stars in by the front door. Yet against the odds she beat out many more famous rivals for the role of "Carmen Jones", becoming the first black woman ever nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. Marriages and affairs would break her heart, but her heart was strong. Seductive and easily seduced, she was born to be a star - with all the glory and all the pain of being loved, abused, cheated, glorified, undermined and undefeated. Here was a woman who wouldn't wait in the wings. Halle Berry stars as Dorothy Dandrige.

What an excellent bio movie starring Halle Berry

What an excellent bio movie starring Halle Berry. She gives an outstanding performance as Dorothy Dandbridge. I knew nothing of this actress till watching this movie and I can't wait to watch some of her work. This is the proper way to do a bio movie. Tim Treakle

This biopic drama was great. Halle Berry, Brent

This biopic drama was great. Halle Berry, Brent Spiner, Loretta Devine, Klaus Maria Brandauer, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. This true story about the famous African American singer/actress Dorothy Dandridge was dramatic and depressing. It's about fighting for what you want to do with your life no matter who you are and what can come of it later in life. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching.

It was a pretty good film. I really didn't know anything about this lady as I was 13 when she passed. Halle Berry did a nice acting job though.
