Plot summary

The McMartin family's lives are turned upside down when they are accused of serious child molestation. The family run a school for infants. An unqualified child cruelty "expert" videotapes the children describing outrageous stories of abuse. One of the most expensive and long running trials in US legal history, exposes the lack of evidence and unprofessional attitudes of the finger pointers which kept one of the accused in jail for over 5 years without bail.

An excellent docu drama available on HBO MAX

An excellent docu drama available on HBO MAX. Truly, a modern version of the Salem trials, this time happening in California. There were no executions, thankfully. James Woods plays well the attorney who defended the family from the mass hysteria. Mercedes Ruehl is the prosecutor who orchestrated the whole disaster.

An extremely well produced drama of injustice. I am not generally a fan of James Woods but his work here is excellent. Definately worth your time and concentration.

Its obviously a very angry film (understandably so)

Its obviously a very angry film (understandably so) but it still has the good sense to try and make sense of the villains in this hysterical moral panic even if their motivations lacked any kind of nuance.
