I have absolutely no idea how this movie has gotten so many good ratings. It is a terrible movie.

Freudian, Lynchian, Polanski-esque, and just as bizarrely stylized as a good Giallo. I was expecting a standard genre piece, but I wasn't prepared for the surreal plot, the indecipherable elements, and the haunting imagery—though I certainly didn't mind, ate it as is. While the film tries to tackle multiple themes simultaneously, many are left feeling incomplete by the finale; it’s strangely like two different scripts making love under a 'Giallo' blanket. Actually, Barilli actually had two separate scripts before production: one followed a schizophrenic woman, and the other concerned a cannibal cult based in Geneva. The final concept only emerged when the producers prompted him to merge them into a single screenplay. In my opinion, the end result is quite satisfying.
