Plot summary

Here and Elsewhere takes its name from the contrasting footage it shows of the fedayeen and of a French family watching television at home. Originally shot by the Dziga Vertov Group as a film on Palestinian freedom fighters, Godard later reworked the material alongside Anne-Marie Miéville.

Maybe it is my emotional ties with Palestine

maybe it is my emotional ties with Palestine that made me appreciate this movie so much! One of the least seen Godard movie, yet a must-see for anyone interested in world politics without compromising cinematic importance.

Originally meant as a documentary about the Palestinian

Originally meant as a documentary about the Palestinian conflict directed by Gorin and Mieville, thanks to Godard's involvement, it becomes a much deeper and philosophical exploration of politics, media coverage and documentary filmmaking in general. Ici et Ailleurs mixes real footage with fictional one to achieve a reflexive impact, making it an original and thought-provoking experience.

If I see an image but only remember

If I see an image but only remember seeing that image after seeing another image, is it the same image or is it a different image because I am remembering seeing an image? As Keanu Reeves says: Whoa. I am chewing gum while typing this.
