Plot summary

In Vermont, college student Ives Towner refuses to marry his longtime girlfriend, Julie Weir, until he has a career. Soon after, Julie meets and grows infatuated with handsome writer Michael Shaw, and they marry and move to Paris. Years later, Julie moves back home to live with her aunt and finds Ives again.

Weird that this movie isn't more popular with it's all-star cast. It has a pretty basic plot, but the acting and cinematography makes it above average. A noir romance I would definitely watch again.

Early Hollywood melodrama pairing Fonda and Bennett as the enduring romantic couple. Both are wonderful in their roles -- a definite watch if you follow either of these two famous actors. Easy to see why Fonda, even in his earliest roles, is considered one of the best Hollywood (or Broadway) has ever offered.

This story has decent acting and the typical

This story has decent acting and the typical story themes of the 1930s. Worth seeing if only for Henry Fonda. Joan Bennet carries the movie and you can see why was so successful in NY theater.
