Plot summary

As a young teen, Alyssa has a relationship with abusive 21-year-old Steven, but their path takes a dark turn after she has his child, so she gives her up for adoption. Years later, their now 17-year-old daughter, seeks them out, and Steven manipulates her into an affair, neglecting his family.

Husband, Father, Killer: The Alyssa Pladl Story is a deeply disturbing true crime film that immediately unsettles with its real life premise. The story alone carries heavy emotional weight, following a shocking and tragic situation that is difficult to process, and it naturally draws attention because of how unbelievable it feels. The screenplay is decent and structured well enough to tell the story clearly, but it lacks the emotional power needed to fully connect. It feels like something is missing in the buildup, especially toward the ending, which never lands with the impact it should. The biggest issue is the acting. The performances feel stiff and unnatural, making it hard to invest in the characters or believe the emotional stakes. Overall, it is an okay one time watch. The real story is compelling, but the weak performances and lack of depth hold it back.

So very disturbing. So disturbing. It’s a hard and confusing movie to watch. I have a lot of concerns about the other adults in Katie’s life. This movie is hard to watch and it bothers me because it was a true story.

The acting in this movie seemed quite poor

The acting in this movie seemed quite poor it was hard for me to stay focused and follow along. They also played music during every scene it was just a badly put together film in m opinion.
