Probably only for fans of the movie as it’s really just an extended behind the scenes that follows around funny friends hanging out and being hilarious. Like an edited-together collection of the funniest summer camp home videos. Well worth it for fans of the cult classic.

Its always nice to see bts footage- this

its always nice to see bts footage- this was about as raw and uncut as possible, sadly in alot of negative ways (really bad audio for one that made alot of it impossible to hear). but nice to see someone was keeping a log, would be nice if this footage was used moreso in a full doc w cast interviews and a better edit.

Hurricane of Fun is a documentary about the making of the cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer. It details shooting problems, bonding moments between the cast and crew, talks about how the creators and writers conceived the film, and shows an interesting perspective of people we now know as household names long before they were famous. If you haven't seen Wet Hot, and have any interest in this documentary, go watch Wet Hot first both are on Netflix. Things I Liked: The Cast. The Cast was the reason I watched Wet Hot American Summer in the first place. And it's incredible how this one film pulled in so many future stars before anyone knew them. Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, and David Hyde Pierce just to name a few. It's a lot of fun to watch a bunch of young unknowns so excited for their first big project and amazing to realize how far they have come since. We get to see their genuine personalities and it's a great time. The Nostalgia. The documentary reminded us why Wet Hot American Summer is a cult classic film. It has so much heart and love put into it from everyone involved. I wasn't the biggest fan of the film but this made me realize that it's impact is more than your initial impression and actually made me want to go back and watch it, that's what a good documentary like this is supposed to do. Show you what you missed and change your mind on the subject. The Comedy. The documentary is funny. It has a lot of moments of the comedians improvising bits and coming up with games and pranks. It's fun to watch Amy Poehler show off her skills before SNL even had her in their sights. It's fun to remember that Bradley Cooper has that comic side that people may have forgotten about after 3 Oscar nominations. The documentary really let's the jokes fly and it makes the whole thing more fun. Things I Didn't Like: It's a Bit Repetitive. There are great moments for sure but they feel somewhat overplayed by the end. It's almost as though the documentary gets played out twice and the second time is just a repeat of the first time for most of it. The original movie had a similar feel but it also marketed itself that way where as this is more about the creation story and gets lost in the process. It Felt a Bit Like an Ad. The reason Netflix released this to coincide with their release of First Day of Camp which is a new prequel series to the show (Featuring the entire original cast). The documentary felt a bit, at times, like it was just a way to get some free publicity. Which makes the sincerity of the whole things seem a little false. Overall. Overall the documentary is entertaining and has a lot going for it. The cast shows how far they have grown and where they were when they had just started many of their careers, which is encouraging for any young people looking to break out and not being able to see past the next few years. The documentary is a little stale in the later part and feels a bit like a marketing campaign at others but it is overall a great watch and a good time.
