I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I've watched this, and all the 60s beach movies with Annette and Frankie, since I was a little girl. I can't help, but adore them, even if the PC-o- meter is a little skewed. It was 1964, so don't try to hold it to 2025 standards or you'll probably be disappointed. If you are looking for a cinematic masterpiece that will blow your mind, I'd probably skip, but if you are looking for a fun, silly type of movie with music, dancing, and hot 60s babes we all wiah we looked like... this one's for you!

This is what you get when you have

This is what you get when you have 50 year old writers trying to decipher how teenagers act in the 1960s. By the way, this is NOT how teenagers acted, talked, or dressed in the 1960s. Teenagers had no idea who Mickey Rooney was and had certainly never heard of Buster Keaton. The plot is ridiculous and even a high school drop out could probably have done better. Scriptwriters should have been required to spend at least a day at the beach watching teenagers having fun. This movie bears absolutely no resemblance to what teenagers would be doing.

Having Mickey Rooney around elevates this sequel. Many rank it at the bottom of the Beach Party franchise but I'd say it's right in the middle for me, thanks largely to the performances. I do wish Frankie were around more and I feel the final "actin sequence" (the motorcycle race) is a confusing mess of shots that isn't nearly as fun as the filmmakers intended it to be. But I can forgive most of the flaws since it's such an innocent, harmless good time.
