Plot summary

Wealthy writer Stephen Byrne tries to seduce the family maid, but when she resists, he kills her. Long jealous of his brother John, Stephen does his best to pin the blame for the murder on his sibling. Also affected by Stephen's arrogant dementia is his long-suffering wife Marjorie.

Everything about it seemed dreary and I'm not

Everything about it seemed dreary and I'm not so sure Louis Hayward didn't spoil a good bit of it from a lack of nuance, every underhanded behavior too obvious by half. My view it was worth a watch just to see how a thoroughly objectionable character would get his just deserts.

I think that the overacting was silly. The film was a little too long for the storyline. I did like the ending though. I've seen much better "films noir", though.

Glad that its short (no need to drag

Glad that its short (no need to drag out the proceedings) and I like the weird implication that nature itself is conspiring against the main characters.
