Plot summary

This is a love story — writ large as a man-playing-god medical nightmare — as much about consent and female autonomy as anything Yorgos Lanthimos attempted in **POOR THINGS**, but with far less debauchery. **HONEY BUNCH**, written and directed by real-life couple Dusty Mancinelli and Madeleine Sims-Fewer, and starring married couple Grace Glowicki and Ben Petrie, is an intimate and revealing examination of commitment and trust that few films dare to explore. After Diana’s (Glowicki) life-threatening injuries from a car crash result in memory loss, her devoted husband Homer (Petrie) admits her to an experimental wellness program designed to restore what was lost. Set in a secluded cottage in the wilderness and run by staff with mysterious methods, the treatment begins to restore Diana’s memory — but she soon starts to question her husband’s true intentions. Unsettling in its themes and unflinching in its examination of how far one couple is willing to go while testing the limits of their marital vow — “in sickness and in health” — **HONEY BUNCH** is one of the biggest horror surprises of the year, quietly debuting today on AMC+. With strong supporting turns from Jason Isaacs, Kate Dickey, Julien Richings, and India Brown — and an endearing, authentic chemistry between Glowicki and Petrie — despite minor anachronisms in its 1970s aesthetic, **HONEY BUNCH** deserves wider attention as a thoroughly engrossing and intimate Canadian-set horror love story.

Honey Bunch (2025) One of the Most Original Recent Films (12,510 – 14 Jun 2026 – Claudio Carvalho) In the 70’s, after a car crash, Diana (Grace Glowicki) stays in coma for a long period. When she wakes up, the doctors realize that she has memory loss and wounded hip. Her husband Homer (Ben Petrie) hires a recommended experimental treatment at an isolated mansion with Dr. Tréphine (Patricia Tulasne). After a couple of days, Diane’s memory improves and her hip heals. But she suspects the furtive attitude of Homer hides some secret. The Canadian-Finnish "Honey Bunch" (2025) is one of the most original recent films released by the industry. The well-built plot is developed slowly, keeping the viewer tense, but could have been shorter. The mystery is resolved in the violent ending. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): "Ilusão Macabra" ("Macabre Illusion")
