Plot summary

When Stargirl's mother is hired as the costume designer on a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters.

May not be wondrously fresh like before, but this original sequel exploratively treats the young, cheerful heroine as her own chapter surrounded by a remarkable cast contributing to the familiarly artistic heartening resonance as thematic alignment. (B+)

Grace VanderWaal is the perfect fit for this movie. Although made by a Disney affiliate it feels like a well made indie.

I rewatched this and it really holds up

I rewatched this and it really holds up. I enjoyed her journey from a lonely child dependent on her mother (who is busy and stressed at work) to a young woman who is building a future in the world and able to support her mother as an equal. The songs Love and Mercy and Dreaming are my favourites but all the songs are great.
