Plot summary

This is, of course, ridiculous. That doesn't mean it's bad. The premise is just very ludicrous and the movie leans into it very heavily. At times maybe too heavily. For being such an effect heavy movie, it probably could have spent a bit more on its effects, but I think it looks good enough, although some pieces of effect work is a bit jarring. The tone is very light for a movie that could have been very dark, but I think they pull it off quite well and it doesn't become comical or at least not ridiculously so. It's a fun watch if you're into this sort of movie and I recommend it.

Seems like some comedy writers got a budget

Seems like some comedy writers got a budget and made a film. Comes off as an earnest, yet self-indulgent project. Similar to Evil Dead in camp, but fails to reach it in execution. You can see what the film wants to be when it grows up. A couple notches above a student film, the entire hour and 14min. was neither funny nor scary. Sorry, I didn't care for it. Perhaps I wasn't high enough.
