Plot summary

Lily, an undercover reporter, poses as the new night manager at a seedy hotel to investigate a string of suspicious suicides. After playing the elevator game, she learns of a dark and sinister presence in the hotel. Can she find a conclusion to this mystery and put a stop to it before more murders occur?

Slow paced, pointless and just downright bad...

Of course I had not heard about this 2023 horror movie titled "The Elevator" prior to stumbling upon it by random chance. But with it being a horror movie that I had neither heard about nor seen, and given my love of all things horror, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.I have to say that the staggering 2.6 rating that the movie had landed here on IMDb, as of the very moment I sat down to watch it, wasn't really particularly reassuring of this being a good movie.Oddly enough, then the version of the movie I snagged was titled "The Elevator" on the cover, but according to IMDb, then the movie is actually titled "Haunted Hotel".Writer Paul W. Franklin put together an incredibly boring and uneventful script and storyline. I have to admit that my attention drifted away from the movie, as there just simply wasn't anything worthwhile taking place on the screen.Yeah, I've seen enough low budget and questionable horror movies to actually be familiar with actresses Chrissie Wunna and Danielle Scott, and I was also familiar with actor Stephen Staley. Aside from these three, then it was all new and unfamiliar talents on the cast list. The acting performances were actually not all that bad, taking into consideration the limits imposed upon the performers by an inferior script.What was up with the glasses that Chrissie Wunna was wearing, it was so painfully obvious that it was just frames with no actual glass in them. It was so ridiculous.This movie was every bit as bad as it low rating indicated. And if you enjoy horror movies, let me spare you the anguish and tell you to no waste 86 minutes on this garbage.My rating of directors Becca Hirani and Tom J. Kelly's 2023 movie "Haunted Hotel" lands on a two out of ten stars.

The Elevator: Seen an ITN film before? Then you know what to expect

PlotA reporter discovers all is not as it seems at an infamous hotel.CastSeveral familiar faces from ITN's usual suspects and lead by Chrissie Wunna.VerdictThere's something creepy about elevators and there have been some great horrors set in them, this is not one of them. In fact frustratingly the elevator in question is barely a part of the film and is rarely featured at all.The Elevator suffers all the usual ITN Productions tropes. The same faces, the same naff acting, the same dreadful visual effects and the same inability to tell a coherent enjoyable story.The plot is very weak here and entirely nonsensical with one of the worst endings yet, it's not that it's bad exactly it's just that it doesn't have one. You're waiting for a finale then boom credits.Chrissie Wunna has a likeability factor to her, but that's likely for the wrong reasons. She's no leading lady and I've seen her in nothing worth more than 3 stars.I'd like to say there was potential here, but I'd be lying. This is a standard ITN film, so you should know exactly what to expect.RantsThere's a side story in the film that involves the lead characters daughter that feels so incredibly pointless and tacked on. It's barely a thing, the twist is inevitable and it contributes nothing to the story in the slightest. Why does it exist? Probably to get Wunna's 1 facial expression 1 tone of voice daughter in the film as she tends to do so. No really, I cannot stress how bad an actress this girl is. Want a laugh?
