I went to the August 22 showing and

I went to the August 22 showing and there were many technical difficulties with viewing. The film. was stopped and movie passes were issued to the next scheduled viewing. I finally saw the film today Aug. 23 and the viewing was awesome. Good fictional storyline ...the ending is sorta kinaa.... CORNY!

Boring movie and terrible acting

I wanted to like this, I really did. Growing up not far from Harsen's Island, I was interested to learn the history of the purple gang. Almost every scene was generic woods, a bar that looked like it was filmed in someone's mom's basement, or other boring, nondescript areas. Obviously low budget and amateur. The story line just dragged on and on. The acting was atrocious. I turned it off in favor of clipping my toenails.

Fun Michigan Lore Movie

This is a new take on a 1920's gangster movie, its set in rural Michigan near Detroit. Pacing was great and it felt like an action/crime movie with good character development. Acting was all over the board with a fairly large cast, but they found some great character actors to fill things in. The film is fairly gritty with a good bit of graphic violence.It's definately worth watching for the Michigan lore, filmed in Alpena there are a lot of fall color back roads and deep Michigan forest, beautiful shots of Chris Craft boats cruising the St. Clair river.Definately worht watching if you like 20's era gangster movies or love Michigan.
