Harder than the Rock is a captivating documentary

Harder than the Rock is a captivating documentary about the first UK band to fully embrace the emerging reggae sound from Jamaica—The Cimarons. Pioneers of UK reggae, The Cimarons played a crucial role in shaping the genre, influencing countless British reggae bands that followed. Over the years, they’ve worked with some of the biggest names in reggae, including Bob Marley, Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and The Pioneers, to name just a few. Named after one of their songs, Harder than the Rock takes you on a journey from their beginnings in 1976 to the present day, uncovering why they haven’t received the recognition they truly deserve. Featuring a rich blend of classic tracks, rare archive footage, and glimpses of their current live performances—including their newest member, Michael Arkk—this documentary is a must-watch for any reggae fan. Expect an emotional ride through the highs and lows of their career. The Cimarons' story deserves to be heard, and hopefully, this film will help bring them the recognition they have long earned. A follow-up would be more than welcome, as there are undoubtedly more stories to tell. This gets a solid 10/10 from me—it has inspired me to dive deeper into their music and history. If you love reggae, you won’t regret watching it. It will expand your knowledge and appreciation of the genre.
