Plot summary

A week before Hanukkah, recently unemployed lawyer Tory embarks on a journey to find Hanukkah candles, leading her to a Chicago bar where she transforms the holiday spirit, discovers love, and finds the courage to pursue a new path in life.

Among the handful of hallmark Chanukah movies out

Among the handful of hallmark Chanukah movies out there, this one really stands out. It engages with Judaism earnestly and Marc Summers’ performance definitely stands out! While it does engage in some minor stereotypes and is ultimately just a lighthearted Hallmark holiday movie, it’s the first one I’ve seen that seems to actually have been written by people who care about engaging with the Jewish experience.
