Plot summary

'Hannah' tells the story of Buddhist pioneer Hannah Nydahl and her life bringing Tibetan Buddhism to the West. From her idealistic roots in 1960's Copenhagen to the hippie trail in Nepal, Hannah and her husband Ole became two of the first Western students of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa - the first consciously reincarnated lama of Tibet in 1110. Hannah went on to become an assistant and translator for some of the most powerful Tibetan lamas and a bridge between Buddhism in the East and the West.

Beautiful, touching movie about Hannah Nydahl. She was the wife of Lama Ole Nydahl. Their hippie honeymoon into Nepal ended up bringing Diamond Way Buddhism to the West, enriching the lives of many lay buddhists in many parts of the world.

The title tells the story "Buddhism's Untold Journey", and unfortunately Nydahl & Co are unsuccessful on telling the way things are also known as dharma, which is ironically Lama Ole's most sold books title. What I am pointing to here, is the fact that neither of the Karmapa candidates as of 2020, is the real one, and how vocal or great of a success either of the branches that spell H-O-A-X to the realized ones, has the true pure transmission, which was started by me Dusum Khyenpa, almost one thousand years ago. But only time will tell, if the seed of the absolute truth can rise through the cracks of cement without the benefits and help, that the most hard working one truly deserves. This part was added on 1st July to the older skeleton. Anyone should watch with an open mind until around 36minutes of this film. After this the bias of (Ole) Nydahl's starts, and get heavier and heavier. Read his book riding the tiger if interested, for his lame excuse on why he didnt see it important to come visit the 16th Karmapa. Digging deeper, its quite certain for anyone who can carry some critical thinking in their minds, that Ole Nydahl and the 16th Karmapa didnt have such brilliant relationship, as Ole wishes to advertise. But time casts a golden layer for certain ego-centric falls of Ole. 1,5 stars for Nydahl's sweet personal life story. Other than that, this film is a pure attempt to distort the history, something that Ole Nydahl is so vocal about. It is a hoax-propaganda film that tries to paint the story of a random tibetan child as the "Karmapa". Ole Nydahl was more interested in the dawn of the 80's to build his own fame, rather than follow his teachers (16th K.) orders to him(and Hannah). I am not writing this from, which to some may seem obvious, "tai situpas" side, but the absolute truth, so preserve the unbiased truth dharma could be one day possible again. Neither one of the current "karmapas" have nothing to do with the 16th Karmapa, the only being in the world capable and qualified, as himself, to be the Karmapa. Do your research if thou will, they have stated it themselves, that they are not the 16th Karmapas incarnations, and that makes them just puppets of the games of two sides. Karmapa is the first consciously reborn Buddhist teacher of this world, spanning almost 1000 years back in time, in succesful consecutive rebirths. He is also the originator of the "Tulku" -system, of which many tibetan buddhist teachers are beneficators, like the current Dalai Lama.
