Plot summary

The newly elected Pope suffers a panic attack just as he is about to greet the faithful who have gathered to see him. His advisors, unable to convince him he is the right man for the job, call on a renowned therapist who also happens to be an atheist. But the Pope's fear of his newfound responsibility is one he must face alone. Winner Best Film at the Italian Golden Globes.

This drama film tells the story of a pope who as soon as he is elected realizes that he is not suitable for his office. The Italian director Nanni Moretti tells this story in an ironic but always simple and sensitive way. Michel Piccoli manages to get completely into the character and to give an excellent acting performance. The film is almost a prophecy of the subsequent renunciation of the papal throne by Benedict XVI.

Criada no catolicismo, mas decepcionada após conhecer a inquisição, pedofilia, escravidão e corrupção que maculam eternamente a Igreja Católica, um passado infeliz, muito oportuna essa visão a respeito do Vaticano, que enoja por suas mazelas, mas encanta por sua sublime beleza (a duras custas), a Fragilidade do Papa retratada, representa a incerteza, perda de fiéis, descrença, o retumbar passado macabro, e um futuro de penitência, dívida e a fé em Francisco que nos faz crer no Amor e na fé...

Been on my to watch list for years

Been on my to watch list for years and now I finally come to watch it I've really no idea why it was ever on there in the first place. A paper thin idea for a story which meanders around and becomes a nonsense at points. Massively underwhelming.
