Surprisingly competently acted but the script is a

Surprisingly competently acted but the script is a mess. Character motivation is muddy and difficult to ascertain, and some of the events that drive the plot make no sense. Seagal is barely in it but his accent is hilariously all over the place.

Gutshot Straight est un petit projet d'un petit

Gutshot Straight est un petit projet d'un petit cinéaste qui voulait raconter une histoire d'adultère dans un Las Vegas puant et dangereux. Et pour la majorité du métrage, Gutshot Straight, avec ses petits moyens, marche totalement. George Eads est un parfait loser, la narration assume totalement ses errances B-Movie, on oscille entre le Z et le B constamment. Mais Gutshot Straight a aussi des ambitions intéressantes. Entre un générique qui copie ceux des Bond et un Steven Seagal cantonné à un troisième rôle de parrain mafieux où il n'a jamais été aussi bon et affable, les idées de Justin Steele se montrent convaincantes. Bien sûr, tout n'est pas parfait dans ce DTV fauché. Mais il y a une vraie idée de cinéma derrière tout ça. Oui, la photo ressemble à un porno fauché, oui certains acteurs sont nuls, mais Gutshot Straight est un film très intéressant à défaut d'être (totalement) réussi. A tester.
